Thomas F. Lawrence, Jr. 10/23/2013 Thomas F. Lawrence, Jr., died on October 23, 2013 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. Mr. Lawrence was born in Warwick, NY on January 12, 1928 to Thomas F. Lawrence and Virginia Feagles Lawrence. He grew up in Warwick, NY where he developed a lifelong love of serving his community. Thomas was a graduate of Rider College. After completing his education, he served in the United States Navy. Thomas began his career in the automobile industry, following in his father’s footsteps. He owned and operated the Warwick Auto Company until his retirement in 1975. Mr. Lawrence was a member of the Warwick Reformed Church, was on the Board of the Warwick Cemetery Association, serving as President until 2008, was a former Trustee/Director of The Warwick Savings Bank, former Director of the Warwick Savings Foundation, former member of Orange/Ulster BOCES, member and past President of the Warwick Valley Central School Board, former member of the Warwick Lions Club and Excelsior Hose Fire Company. He is survived by his children: Meg Quackenbush and her husband Allen of Warwick, Nancy L. Sobotor-Littell and her husband Harry of Warwick; his sister Virginia ('Pete") Lawrence Sayre; his loving grandchildren: Thomas L. Sobotor and his wife Sarah, Bryan R. Quackenbush, Michael R. Sobotor and his wife Melissa, and Marjorie L. Sobotor and fiancé Matthew; and a great-grandson, Tyler Michael Sobotor. Mr. Lawrence was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie R. Lawrence, his parents, Thomas and Virginia Lawrence, his sister, Almyra L. Roe, his brother-in-law, Herbert N. Roe, his brother-in-law and best friend, Dr. Harry C. Sayre, Jr., and his beloved son-in-law, Frank B. Sobotor. To his nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, he was affectionately known as “Unkie”. He took great pleasure in time spent with them and their families. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Warwick Reformed Church. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
