In remembrance ..
1940 - 2002
Alfred was one of my first grade school friends.
I was very much enamored with farm life in those days. One day, when we were both around eight years old, Alfred was telling me about the various chores that he did daily. Such things as real work, related to milking cows, riding tractors and cutting hay. Needless to say I was impressed and when he finished, I could not help but exclaim, "Boy, you know how to do lots of things."
Alfred must have sensed my feelings of inadequacy for he graciously replied, "Yeah, but you can do lots too."
"Like what," I said.
