Peggy Elston Smith has contributed some wonderful photos to this site.See the main page and the HS pages for some touching pictures of her and friends from the class of '51.
Early in our correspondence she mentioned some photos of downtown Warwick that her father had taken. They proved difficult to find, but eventually turned up, Peg says, 'While looking for stuff for our reunion.' (October 7, 2000)I asked Peg about her father and how he came to take these photos which are displayed below. Her reply...

My dad, Roy Elston, was President of The First National Bank of Warwick [in the forties and fifties]. It then was bought out a couple of times and he then became Vice President. He retired in 1959. Roses and photography were his hobbies. We had a beautiful rose garden in back of our home on 25 Welling Ave. Dad was taking pictures all of my life.
He went to school at Bethlehem Art Center I think it's in or near Newburgh. In the summer, he & Mom would travel to Vermont where he studied with a woman from N.Y. He was a member of various and numerous photography groups. I mainly remember the Middletown Club and I think they had one in Warwick for a few years. In later years he stayed with colored slides and we had millions of them. He would have a whole show on Hawaii where he visited, also Vermont, and Warwick village including parades and of course his family especially the grandchildren. He was marvelous Christian man and a great father.
